Abstract:

Near Field Communication (NFC) is a short-range, half duplex, high frequency, low bandwidth wireless communication technology which was jointly developed through NFC Forum. Two NFC enabled devices can communicate within few centimeters. It enables communication in three operating modes; reader/writer mode (between a smart phone and an NFC tag), peer-to-peer mode (between two smart phones) and card emulation mode (between a smart phone and an NFC reader). Each operating mode provides various different applications as well as has distinct benefits for the uses. Other than providing technical  possibilities, NFC also provides wide range of service usage and hence economic opportunities.
During this talk, we will introduce NFC technology as well as NFC ecosystem. Our talk will be partly based on the two books co- authored by the speaker.
